Emeritus Professor of Fish Nutrition and Agricultural Biochemistry and former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Professor Adebisi M. Balogun is a distinguished academic, researcher, and university administrator with over four decades of experience in higher education and research.
He obtained his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Agricultural Biochemistry and Nutrition from the University of Ibadan. His academic career began at the Nigerian Institute for Oceanography and Marine Research before joining the University of Ibadan and later FUTA, where he rose to the rank of Professor in 1994. He served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor and subsequently as Vice-Chancellor of FUTA from 2007 to 2012.
Professor Balogun has made significant contributions to research, teaching, and mentorship, supervising over 100 postgraduate students and publishing more than 100 scholarly works. He has served as a Visiting Professor at Ohio State University, USA, and was a recipient of the prestigious World Bank McNamara Fellowship.
A Fellow of the Fisheries Society of Nigeria and Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International, he has received numerous awards for academic excellence, leadership, and service. He has also served on the governing councils of several Nigerian universities and remains actively involved in educational development and institutional governance.
Professor Balogun brings a wealth of experience in leadership, education, research, and strategic development to the Advisory Council of the Professor Peter Olufemi Adeniyi Foundation.
